The Process
You are just a few steps away from an optimized site - and increased traffic to
your website.
The process of creating an optimized site is fairly simple for our clients because
we do all the hard work for you. The process of optimization is composed of two
basic parts: knowing what constitutes a proper optimization, and actually optimizing
a sites structure and page content. But before we begin, go to your favorite search
engine and enter the terms your customers might use to find your site. Take note
of the page ranking - we'll use this later to do a comparison.
Now, on to the steps.
- Register
- Create A New Site
- Upload Source Files
- Enter Page Options
- Enter Image Options
- Optimize Site
- Download Optimized Site
- Increased Site Traffic
Register
The registration process is quick and easy. Just tell us a little about your company
and provide contact information. During the course of optimization, we may need
to contact you to ensure that we provide the best optimization possible.
Create A New Site
In this step, you enter basic information about your website such as name, description
and industry. You must also provide other information that is critical for site
optimization including your sites web address, the default/home page name, and default
values for page title, description and keywords. If this is already sounding too
technical, don't worry - we will walk you through each step in the process. It's
really a lot simpler than it may sound. Contact us at
any time and we will be happy to answer your questions.
Upload Source Files
After creating a new site, the source files must be uploaded. At this time, source
files can be provided as a single "zip" file or you can download your code directly
from an FTP server.
Now, are you wondering what "source code" is? Briefly, it is the code that resides
on your web server and describes your page content and functions. When a visitor
requests a page from your site, the source code is read by your web server and used
to construct the page that the visitor will see. In order to optimize your site,
source code is required.
Enter Page Options
This can be the most time consuming part of the process, but it is also extremely
important. This step allows you to set the title, description and keywords for each
page. The more time and care that is taken in this step, the better the optimization
will be. After all, you are the expert when it comes to your site. You know your
target audience and you know what search phrases they might use to find your site.
If you don't know what description and keywords would be effective, we'll help.
Enter Image Options
Your website images also need some attention. This step allows you to set the title,
and alternate text for each image. This step is a little simpler than setting page options -
just describe each image and give each a title.
Optimize Site
After ensuring that all previous steps are completed, select and submit the site
you want optimized. Optimization is usually completed within 24 hours. The
optimization is based in part on the information you entered. If you
decide to change your site information, you can re-optimize the site at a later time.
Download Optimized Site
Download and install your optimized site and usually within about 5-10 days your
site will be crawled by the various search engines. But note that it can take
a few weeks before your site is crawled. Now go back to your favorite
search engine and enter the same search terms. Your sites ranking has greatly
improved. In all likelihood, you are now on page one!
Increased Site Traffic
Be prepared for increased site traffic and a corresponding increase in sales.
Seriously! Don't be caught off-guard. This is chance to make a good first
impression on all your new customers.
